About

Art direction & design with a focus on typography
for brands and publications.

I am an Art Director and Designer with 25 years of experience in branding and editorial design. Working in an innovative environment has been the center of my professional life. I firmly believe in and embrace an environment where collaboration and high standards are critical to creating relevant work. In this career phase, I see my strength in sharing my experience with a new  generation of curious designers and thinkers. I focus on analytical and strategic thinking applied to multi-platform visual communication.

My portfolio is a range of work, mainly as a freelance creative with examples for the following industries: editorial, fashion, beauty, culture, entertainment, technology, non-profit, and finance. Projects include magazines, brand identities, brand campaigns, wayfinding, experiential design, and some broadcast. Some notable past clients include National Geographic Magazine, Disney, Warner Brothers Entertainment, Imagine Entertainment, Turner Classic Movies, BET, LA Phil,  Hulu, Sony Entertainment, and Sundance Institute. In all of these projects, my focus has always been on typography.

As an Associate Professor at The ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena, my hands-on experience allows me to share an in-depth understanding of the complete creative process within the demands of meeting deadlines. Through various teaching methods, I promote the student’s ability to move through the creative process, from the research to developing a strategy and brief to an in-depth exploration of visual communication and its skilled execution  in a meaningful way. When working with the students, I pay close attention to each student’s unique way of approaching various design challenges.

Within a team, I strive to motivate and inspire my colleagues, and find opportunities for growth and acquiring new skills. I enjoy working with my colleagues in a collaborative way. I apply the focus and dedication I have for my work to a company’s goals.
